Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has said he expects to be the first to suffer the repercussions if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election to either Atiku Abubakar or Peter Obi.
Wike said this during a media meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, according to The Guardian, adding that his robust and vocal support for Tinubu’s re-election had made him a target of opposition politicians.
He said he knew the political hazards of the job he holds full well but had no regrets about backing the president.
The FCT minister said his focus is fully on facilitating Tinubu’s return to office, no matter the criticism or personal political implications that may follow. Wike claimed he has been brutally criticised for his political choices but stated the attacks will not cause him to change his mind and quit his support for the president ahead of 2027.
