Plateau State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Kefas Ropshik, has queried the status of President Bola Tinubu’s directive for the deployment of security surveillance cameras across the state, asking the federal government to account for promises made to the people. Speaking on Channels Television today, Ropshik said the plan was launched by President Tinubu during his visit to Plateau State after the terrible attacks in April.
“If you recall, the last time the president was in Plateau, he landed at the airport and never got into town. But he made certain promises for the people of Plateau State. He spoke to the then Minister of Communication and gave him a mandate to have cameras installed across Plateau State and its environment.
“Now the question is what has happened from then? “We are very convinced that the government must be responsible and accountable for any promises made to the people,” Ropshik stated.
President Tinubu had ordered the deployment of 5,000 security cameras in Plateau State during his visit to Jos in April after attacks in the Angwan Rukuba region claimed more than 27 lives. Executive Branch
The project will give law enforcement officials with technology to track criminal activity and improve security in the state, said Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
Ropshik said the government owes residents an update on the implementation of the directive, saying officials should be held accountable for promises made to the public.
The PDP governorship candidate said that good leadership must be anchored on compassion and the well-being of the people.
Governance and existence itself for me has to do with humanity in someone because that’s the only way you can get it correctly. “Where you have in you the good of humanity, you would not conceive of embezzling government monies. If you have any humanity in you, you will think of the people before anything,” he said.
