The Zeberced Group has announced a huge investment programme to train 2,000 Nigerians through a new Technical and Vocational Training School while creating 40,000 direct employment in one of the greatest skills development and industrial empowerment programs in West Africa.
The corporation also revealed plans to set up a FIFA-approved football academy for children and young people to find and develop football talent for national and international prospects.
The Managing Director of Zeberced Group, Mr. Adil Aydin Kurt, made this disclosure during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, led by its Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, to the facilities of the company at the Abuja Industrial Park Free Zone.
Kurt said the proposed Technical and Vocational Training School will admit and train roughly 2,000 young Nigerians annually, and projected to produce about 20,000 skilled graduates over the following years, while creating nearly 40,000 direct jobs.
‘Zeberced is working on a vocational training school which would train young Nigerians in several sectors, creating 40,000 direct jobs in the process. “This is going to be a sample project and is the biggest operation of its kind in West Africa,” Kurt stated.
The institution’s architectural design will offer specialised instruction in Construction Technology, Machine and Design Technology, Motor Vehicle Technology, Plumbing Technology, Metal Technology, Furniture Technology, and Electrical and Electronics Technology.
Kurt said the school is aimed to provide Nigerian adolescents with practical and industry relevant skills for employment, self dependence and entrepreneurship.
“We take our work very seriously. I have so many ideas and thoughts to share. “We have to bring in qualified people from different parts of the world to Nigeria because the future is Africa,” he said.
Kurt said Zeberced Group was operating what he called Africa’s first integrated mining quarry of its sort and was continuing to ramp up investments in manufacturing and construction. He said the company was ready to support the creation of hundreds of factories in the Idu Industrial Area to enhance local production and lessen Nigeria’s reliance on imported items.
The industrial development initiative, which started some 15 years ago, has had its fair share of problems but has continued to make steady progress through resilience and consistent investment, he said.
Responding, the NUJ FCT Council Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, congratulated Zeberced Group for its dedication to youth empowerment and national development. She said the vocational training initiative was a timely intervention that was capable of tackling unemployment among young Nigerians.
Ike also updated the company’s management on the Council’s continuing Congress Hall project which has reached the decking stage and requested for Zeberced Group’s help towards its completion.
Kurt said the company was ready to help the initiative and reiterated Zeberced Group’s commitment to collaborations that build institutions and support national development.
Zeberced Group has had a presence in Nigeria since 2007, investing in manufacturing, building, industrial infrastructure and human capital development.
