Suspected militants have kidnapped a citizen known as Yusuf Bazamfare and set ablaze a Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps unit, a brothel and one residential structure in an attack in Kebbi State.
The PUNCH reported that the attack happened on Saturday night in the Tsamiya hamlet in Bagudo Local Government Area of the state.
Yesterday, the spokesman of Kebbi State Police Command, Bashir Usman, confirmed the occurrence in a statement.
It said, “The attackers stormed the neighbourhood, sporadically shot and burnt ablaze a temporary checkpoint of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, a local brothel and the house of one Sule Mai Goge. “Another Alhaji Yusuf Bazamfare was also abducted during the incident.”
Following the event, the Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State ordered the immediate deployment of additional security personnel to the area to enhance security and defend lives and property.
“Efforts are on to rescue the abducted victim and to track those behind the attack,” the command said.
“The police in collaboration with other security agencies have commenced investigation and intensified operations to rescue the kidnap victim and bring the perpetrators to book,” the statement further noted.
Residents were advised to remain calm and continue to provide security services with relevant information to assist in the ongoing efforts to combat criminal activity in the area.
