Tobi Amusan of Nigeria dashed to victory in the women’s 100m hurdles in the Rabat Diamond League in Morocco Wednesday.
The Nigerian record holder won her first race of the 2026 season in the Diamond League after breaking her own record during the event, Channels TV reports.
She surged to the win in 12.28 seconds, equal to her season’s best, to finish well ahead of the field.
Meanwhile, Devynne Charlton of the Bahamas was second in 12.40 seconds, followed by Dutch athlete Nadine Visser in 12.47 seconds.
Amusan also beat the previous meeting mark of 12.45 seconds set by the Nigerian at the same site last year with the triumph.
It is a big achievement for the athlete, who did not get her maiden Diamond League triumph this season until now, after earlier in the year finishing on the podium.
The Nigerian, who finished third in Shanghai earlier this year, clocked 12.41 seconds.
But she went one better at the Xiamen Diamond League in China finishing second in 12.28 seconds.
Amusan won gold in the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2026 African Championships in Accra before her Diamond League season.
It was Nigeria’s first gold medal in the competition. Amusan’s success in Rabat is viewed as a launchpad for the defence of her Commonwealth Games championship.
She will compete at the next Wanda Diamond League meeting in Rome, Italy on June 4.
