Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has emerged as the senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Kogi Central as she further consolidates her political dominance in the district ahead of the 2027 general elections.
It was claimed that the PDP affirmation process which was held in all the 57 wards in Kogi Central had the active participation of party delegates, stakeholders and supporters with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission monitoring the event.
Natasha’s emergence comes on the heels of fresh political calculations in Kogi State where major parties are starting to position themselves ahead of the next electoral cycle. Her rising grassroots popularity and vocal presence in the Senate have only bolstered her standing in the PDP and among voters in the district, political watchers say.
The senator, spoke to party faithful after the exercise, thanked the confidence reposed in her leadership, characterizing the outcome as a call to enhance representation, empowerment and development across Kogi Central.
She also vowed not to relent on initiatives and legislative interventions aimed at youth development, women inclusion, infrastructure and education, stressing that the district deserved “purpose-driven representation.”
The development is expected to heat up political activities in Kogi Central as opposition parties are likely to strategise around her growing popularity and influence in the political landscape of the state.
Natasha, who is the first female senator from Kogi State, has continued to be one of the leading opposition voices in the National Assembly, often attracting national attention on governance, accountability and constituency related problems.
