The Nigeria Union of Journalists, FCT Council, has expressed its deep grief over the death of staff of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria Headquarters, Gwamkat Gwamzhi. The Council said the passing of the esteemed broadcaster and media professional is a terrible loss to the journalism profession, the FRCN family and the nation at large.
In a statement, the Secretary of the Council, Comrade Jide Oyekunle said the late Gwamzhi was a passionate journalist who contributed enormously to the expansion of broadcasting and public information in Nigeria via her years of dedicated service at FRCN. Comrade Jide Oyekunle said Gwamzhi was recognized for her professionalism, humility and strong devotion to ethical journalism and her death has created a void that will be difficult to fill. Comrade Jide Oyekunle also commiserated with the management and personnel of FRCN Headquarters, FRCN NUJ Chapel, the immediate relatives of the deceased, friends and professional colleagues over the tragic loss.
The NUJ FCT Council prays that God would offer the soul of the deceased eternal peace and her loved ones the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. The statement was signed by Comrade Jide Oyekunle, Secretary, NUJ FCT Council.
