Ladan Salihu, a leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), says that the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led administration will not pass the integrity and credibility test during the 2027 general elections.
Salihu said these things last night on Channels TV. He said that Nigerians would be angry and upset with the APC government led by President Bola Tinubu at the polls.
This government will fail the integrity and credibility test at the polls when it comes to fair elections.
Salihu remarked, “This government will not be able to handle the anger and frustration of the Nigerian people.”
“Amupitan Must Go”
The ADC leader also repeated the party’s demand that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Amupitan, step down or be removed because he is said to be biased. The electoral body has refuted this claim, saying that the chairman is unbiased.
“Amupitan should quit or be fired because he is the most unwelcome person in public service right now. He has failed the integrity test and the competency test, and he has not shown himself to be the fair, trustworthy referee that Nigeria, a country of 250 million people, needs to have an election to celebrate.”
“Because of what he does, says, and how he runs the government, he makes everyone in Nigeria who has integrity look bad,” he stated.
Salihu said that Amupitan has lost the trust of not only the opposition but also of regular Nigerians who want the country to move forward.
Salihu responded, “The election is our constitutional duty as the leading opposition movement,” when asked if the ADC would boycott the poll if Amupitan ran it. We shall decide what to do when we arrive to that point.
He went on to say that if Amupitan doesn’t quit or is not removed, the opposition will step up its efforts to get him out of office before the election.
“APC Afraid”
Salihu also said that the APC is nervous and scared of the opposition before the 2027 elections, even though they control 31 states and have a majority in the National Assembly.
The APC won 23 governors in the 2023 elections. They had to scare, annoy, and force other governors to do what they wanted. They are 31 years old now, and they are still scared. “They have 31 governors and run the Senate and the House, but they don’t run the people,” he remarked.
He was sure that the ADC would win the 2027 election, saying that Nigerians are fed up with the APC for not doing its job.
