President John Mahama is very worried about Nigeria’s security situation getting worse. He says he prays every day for the country to be stable and recover.
Mahama spoke at an awards ceremony in Ghana and said that Nigeria’s future is intimately linked to the stability of the whole African continent.
“We are really interested in Nigeria’s security. He said, “Ghana does well when Nigeria does well.”
The president of Ghana said that Nigeria’s ongoing instability could have implications on the whole region, especially if it leads to a lot of people moving there.
He said that Ghana might be under a lot of pressure because of its long-standing historical and cultural ties with Nigeria if insecurity forces Nigerians to flee to other nations.
“Every day when I wake up, I pray for Nigeria and ask God to help the country get things right,” Mahama said.
His comments come at a time when people are still worried about bloodshed connected to banditry and insurgency, especially in northern Nigeria.
Mahama’s statements show that more and more people in the area are worried about Nigeria’s security problems. African leaders are also calling for quick and long-lasting solutions.
