Nigeria will hold the 8th Nigeria–European Union Ministerial Dialogue in Abuja. The goal of both sides is to improve their diplomatic and economic ties.
The Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will lead the meeting on Monday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tafawa Balewa House. Kaja Kallas, who is also the Vice-President of the European Commission, will lead the European Union delegation.
Kallas got to Abuja on Sunday before the meetings. He is anticipated to meet with Tuggar one-on-one to talk about Nigeria–EU ties and find new ways to work together.
The EU envoy will also see Vice President Kashim Shettima at the Presidential Villa as part of her trip. This is meant to strengthen diplomatic ties.
After the talks, both sides are anticipated to have a joint press conference to talk about the main points of agreement and the main outcomes.
Trade and investment, security cooperation, governance, migration, climate change, and sustainable development are some of the most important areas that will be spoken about at the ministerial meetings.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nigeria said again that Nigeria wants to improve its relationship with the European Union. They are hopeful that the talks would lead to positive and forward-looking results.
