Bill Gates has stated he regrets “every minute” he spent with Jeffrey Epstein. However, Melinda, Gates’ ex-wife, said he still had questions to answer about his association with the convicted sex offender.
The US Justice Department revealed a new batch of documents last week that included emails between Epstein and numerous well-known people. These emails often showed close ties, illegal financial operations, and private images, according to AFP.
Epstein claimed in a draft email that Gates had affairs outside of marriage, saying that his relationship with Gates included “helping Bill get drugs to deal with the consequences of sex with Russian girls” and “facilitating his illicit trysts with married women.”
In an interview that aired yesterday on 9News Australia, Gates, a millionaire philanthropist, said, “I regret every minute I spent with him and I apologize.”
“That email never went out. He said, “The email is fake.” “I don’t know what he was thinking there.” “Was he trying to hurt me in some way?”
A Gates representative said the same thing after millions of new papers relating to the investigation into Epstein, who killed himself in prison in 2019, were made public.
“The only thing these papers show is how angry Epstein was that he didn’t have a relationship with Gates and how far he would go to trap and slander him,” the representative stated.
In an interview with US National Public Radio, Melinda French Gates said that the document dump brought up “memories of some very, very painful times in my marriage.”
“It’s hard for me personally when those details come up,” she remarked.
“Whatever questions are still out there about what— I can’t even begin to know all of it— those questions are for those folks and even my ex-husband. Not me, they need to answer for those things.
In 2021, the pair split up.
Bill Gates told 9News that he met Epstein in 2011 and had dinner with him numerous times over the next three years. He never went to Epstein’s Caribbean island, though, and he never had sex with women.
“The focus was always on how he knew a lot of very rich people and how he could get them to give money to global health.” He added, “Looking back, that was a dead end.”
A name in the Epstein papers doesn’t mean that person did anything improper, but the documents showed links between Epstein and famous people who have often downplayed or even denied these links.
