In Garaha District, the home village of former Secretary of the Government of the Federation, SGF Mr. Boss Mustapha, at least two troops and countless people were killed by Boko Haram rebels who raided multiple villages and towns.
The village of Mayo Ladde, which is part of Garaha, which borders the Sambisa Forest and the Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, was attacked by terrorists on Christmas Day, according to reports from the Garaha District in the Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
According to an eyewitness account, hundreds of Boko Haram members overran the security troops when they raided the town, according to Saturday Independent.
According to sources, Boko Haram overran the Garaha Market and killed two soldiers, whose bodies were then sent to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in the state’s Hong Local Government Area. The police, soldiers from 144 Battalion, and Civilian JTF were caught off guard.
According to police sources, the diligent anti-terror unit in Garaha District, under the command of Supol Kuva Gaya, received multiple reports of distress calls by two in the morning on Christmas Day. The unit, working with the 144 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, which includes JTF, promptly responded to the cries of the Garaha residents. However, several lives were lost during the attack, including two soldiers.
The number of civilian deaths was not confirmed by sources, however eyewitnesses reported that the situation was appalling.
Although the Adamawa State Police Command verified the development, Supol Yahaya Nguroje, a police public relations officer, stated that although the Boko Haram rebels had attacked the community during Christmas, the situation had been brought under control.
According to eyewitnesses, the terrorists have regrettably targeted Garaha, which is adjacent to Sambisa hamlet, for a number of years.
The hospital administration confirmed to reporters who visited the FMC Hong that some soldiers, including those wounded and those who were unable to survive the attack, were admitted to the hospital.
Witnesses reported that it was extremely risky to travel on the road while trying to reach Garaha from the Hong Local Government Area.
When reporters visited the office of the Executive Chairman of the Hong Local Government Area, he was not present.
All calls were turned off, and the Nigerian Army’s 23 Brigade’s Army Public Relations officer had not yet announced the development.
Since many people have fled to Hong as internally displaced people, life has not yet returned to normal in the entire Garaha District.
