Before the Super Eagles’ game against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia, coach Eric Chelle hinted to a potential change in the team’s approach.
According to Daily Independent, the Super Eagles would like to win the game in order to be at the top of Group C in Fes.
Having won their opening games, both clubs will enter the match with momentum. Tunisia defeated Uganda 3-1, while the Super Eagles defeated Tanzania 2-1.
The Super Eagles had to win by a narrow margin despite dominating the majority of the match against Tanzania.
The 2004 AFCON champions in Tunisia will now present a more dangerous opponent.
Chelle stated during his news conference today that he will have to play the game in a different way because he would be facing a very strong opponent.
“I have two options in mind: maybe we let Tunisia have the ball, or we go straight after we get it back, or we stick to our philosophy,” Chelle stated.
Tunisia is a strong team, as we all know, and perhaps we will make a change.
Following the first game, we had our training sessions, during which we attempted to increase the level of intensity. Let’s play this game as we are playing a fantastic team.
“It won’t be simple, so I have to get my players ready.” As I mentioned earlier, Tunisia is an excellent squad because they have both young and experienced players that work well together.
