Gunmen broke into a church in Kogi State and took a pastor and his wife hostage.
According to Channels TV, the attack on the recently built Cherubim and Seraphim Church in Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area, happened during church service today.
It was alleged that armed bandits attacked during the church service, which caused mayhem in the town.
A resident said that the incident made many run for safety as gunfire rang out in the vicinity. Along with his wife and a few other church members, the pastor, who is known as Orlando, was carried away.
Residents said the incident was scary since the bandits came into the village without warning and shocked a lot of people. We still don’t know how many people were taken.
The Kogi State Government claimed today that it has stepped up its search for the robbers who attacked the church.
We don’t know how many church members the gunman took away yet.
However, the State government, through Kingsley Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, announced that security services were trying to free the people who had been kidnapped.
“The Yagba West Local Government Council is working hard with the police to make sure that the people who were kidnapped are found alive.” The criminals also know that Kogi will do everything it can to get back all of its kidnapped residents.
His Excellency Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo, the governor of the state, is in charge of the operations, and we will keep the press updated on what is going on.
“We ask people to be aware of their safety and to tell security agencies about any strange movements or faces they see. If you notice something, tell someone.
“Worship centers on the outskirts should also think about not worshiping in areas where crime is common until things get better.”
The Frontier reports that after gunmen attacked and killed a lot of Christians in Nigeria, Bishop Wale Oke of the Penticostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) recently spoke out, saying that there is an ongoing “Christian genocide” in the country and blaming the government for being indifferent and complicit in the attacks on Christian communities.
After an emergency executive meeting of the Fellowship on November 13, 2025, at its national headquarters in Lagos, PFN President Bishop Wale Oke said that the group would no longer stay quiet while Christians are “targeted, killed, raped, and displaced” all over the country, according to Vanguard.
“Let’s be honest. Bishop Oke said, “There is Christian genocide going on in Nigeria.”
“Even as we talk, people are still being killed in Borno, Plateau, and Benue States.” What do we name it when Christians were killed in Dogon Noma in Plateau? What should we call the day in Benue when Christmas turned into a horrific day with hundreds of people killed?
He said that the PFN had always brought attention to the murders and kidnappings, but he was sad that the government had not done enough to stop them.
Oke said that people had ignored the church’s warnings for more than 15 years. It wasn’t until U.S. President Donald Trump spoke out about the matter that it got more attention.
“We have been crying for years, showing facts and proof, but no one has taken our screams seriously. We are now joining Donald Trump’s voice to ask the world to help stop this evil. He responded, “The blood of the saints is crying out.”
