The death of Dharmendra Ji, according to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, “signals the end of an era in Indian cinema.” This, he added, was a tragedy for the country. Salman Khan praised Dharmendra, calling him “a pillar of warmth and generosity,” and veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan referred to him as “a brother.” With “a legacy of sincerity, humility, and unforgettable performances,” the late actor was remembered by Aamir Khan.
A large gathering of Dharmendra’s loved ones, friends, and colleagues in the entertainment industry as well as his devoted fans paid their respects at the Pawan Hans cremation in Mumbai for his last rites. The iconic actor’s wife Hema Malini and their daughter Esha Deol were present during his funeral.
