LAGOS Government seals popular Alade market
The well-known Alade Market in Ikeja’s Onigbongbo LCDA has been closed by the administration of Lagos State.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s top aide for new media, Jubril Gawat, announced this on his X account this morning.
Gawat claims that various environmental violations, including a shortage of trash cans, unsanitary conditions, and the illegal burning of trash on the side of the road, led to the closure of the market.
The closure is due to a number of factors, including illegal dumping and a general disregard for LAWMA’s regulations.
The environmental problems at Alade Market have forced the closure of yet another popular market in the state.
Monday saw the closure of the Alaba International Market on the Lagos-Badagry Motorway.
Tokunbo Wahab, commissioner of Lagos State’s ministry of the environment and water resources, stated the market was closed because of
improper waste management, nonpayment of trash costs, and serious violations of environmental sanitation laws.
Meanwhile, areas of Tejuosho Market that had been closed have reopened, as have the markets of Ladipo, Agbado Oke-Odo, Oyingbo, Alayabiagba, and Alamutu (Ologede).
