Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff Christopher Musa has ordered the military to root out and eliminate Boko Haram members before they can launch attacks on civilians.

According to Daily Trust, Musa gave the order to Operation Hadin Kai troops in the Maimalari cantonment in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.

The CDS added that a soldier’s job is not done until he or she has killed at least one Boko Haram member in the field.

“Don’t just come and sleep in the theatre,” he told the troops, “make sure you look for Boko Haram and kill.” Anyone who doesn’t eliminate at least one Boko Haram terrorist is missing something.

If you want to help me finish them, you need to make sure you look for them before you leave.

They shouldn’t be trying to find us; rather, we should be trying to find them. Do not wait to kill them until we have repelled their attack; there is no better feeling than that.

He also conveyed President Bola Tinubu’s gratitude to the armed forces for their service and sacrifice in the fight against insurgency.

“The president said he is happy with us and wishes us all the very best,” he continued. He also assures us that, while the fight is far from over, we are making progress in the right direction. If we keep moving in this direction, Boko Haram will be defeated soon.
