Advocates from Nigeria’s youth population are getting ready to make a global impact at the upcoming COP28 summit in Dubai by hosting a major youth side-event.

Vivacity Development, a group committed to fostering positive change and development, is hosting the event at the behest of Kemi Areola, a former Special Assistant on Youth, ICT, and Corporate Relations to the immidiate past Minister of Youth and Sports Development.

Areola is leading the charge as CEO of both Vivacity PR and Vivacity Development. She brings a wealth of experience to the table, and her passion for youth empowerment and climate action bodes well for the event’s success.

Areola argues that the event’s emphasis on pressing concerns facing African youth and women in the context of climate change makes it of the utmost importance.

She went on to say that the event’s theme, “Climate Change Awareness – Nigeria’s Action Plan,” encapsulated the global significance and urgency of these issues.

The health of humans, especially that of women and young people, adaptation strategies, resilience building, and the impact of individual actions in the face of climate change will all be discussed at this event.

This project is a continuation of the Nigerian Ministry of Youth and Sports’s successful youth side event held in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, in November 2022. The theme of last year’s gathering was “Youth and Climate Change,” highlighting the vital role young people play in tackling climate-related challenges.

A tree-planting initiative called “Project 250k” was launched at the 2022 gathering to mitigate climate change’s unfavourable effects in Nigeria.

Vivacity Development and Kemi Areola, two young Nigerian advocates, are gearing up to take climate action and awareness to new heights at COP28 in Dubai. Recognising the importance of Africa’s youth, women, and climate change, they hope to plot a course towards a brighter future for all.
