‘My son’s wife was my target’, grandmother arrested for arson laments
The grandmother, identified as lforiti Oloro, allegedly set her son’s entire family on fire in Apomu community, Akure, the state capital of Ondo, because they were allegedly starving.
According to a police source, the suspect who expressed regret for her actions stated that she intended to murder her daughter-in-law, Racheal, and not her son, Victor Oloro, and grandchildren, Toluwani and Blessing.
She allegedly claimed she had a grudge against her daughter-in-law, who was the one who deprived her of food in the home.

Meanwhile, Funmi Odunlami, a police spokesperson, stated that the two grandchildren did not perish in the fire.
“Only the couple perished in the blaze. The two grandchildren sustained injuries, but are alive and responding well to treatment at the Federal Medical Centre FMC, Owo.
“The elderly woman was rescued from the burning home by her other son and the authorities.
“She, too, was affected by the fire and was being treated at the Owo FMC.”
Recall that the suspect, who resides in the same house as her son, complained that she was denied food.
She reportedly set the house on fire around 2 a.m., while the family members were sleeping, killing the couple and injuring the two grandchildren, who were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre FMC, Owo.
The suspect reportedly spread dry palm fronds and the small amount of gasoline her son kept in a gallon (for the generator) around the house before setting it on fire.
