In Ogun, a 13- year- old boy kills a girl by shooting her
Ope Babalola, a 13-year-old boy, is accused of fatally shooting Esther Samuel, a three-year-old girl, in Ogun State.
According to reports, the teenager killed the child with a Danish gun that belonged to Semiu Adegesin.
The incident took place in the village of Kukudi in the state’s Yewa North Local Government Area in Imasayi.
Abimbola Oyeyemi, the police public relations officer for the command, told journalists on Friday that Adegesin, the owner of the gun, had been detained for “contributory negligence.”
The girl was shot and killed with a dane gun by a 13-year-old boy, Ope Babalola, according to a report filed at the Imasayi divisional headquarters of the police, according to Oyeyemi. The 45-year-old suspect was then detained.
“Upon receiving the information, Imasayi, SP Arowojeun Michael, the divisional police officer, immediately led his detectives to the scene where the deceased could be seen lying in a pool of her own blood.
The suspect, Semiu Adegesin, loaded his dane gun and carelessly left it in the backyard of the house, where kids used to play, according to the preliminary investigation.
The loaded gun was picked up by 13-year-old Ope Babalola there, who then pointed it at the victim and pulled the trigger.
She was transported right away to the General Hospital in Ilaro, where the on-call physician pronounced her dead.
Oyeyemi stated, “The owner of the dane gun was promptly arrested and taken to the station for questioning.
He continued by saying that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department’s homicide section for investigation at the direction of the state’s police commissioner, Frank Mba.
Mba, who called the incident regrettable, expressed sympathy to the victim’s family and urged everyone to remain calm while the case was being investigated.
