Kano govt arrests fleeing patient, trails two others who tests positive for coronavirus
The Director Infection Control Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) and chairman, Risk Communication Committee on COVID-19, Professor Isah Abubakar has confirmed the arrest of one of the three patients who fled after testing positive for coronavirus in Kano State.
Recall that earlier, it was reported that three patients fled after getting wind of the results of their test which turned out to be positive. The three persons were said to have gone into hiding immediately after, switching off their phones and deserting their homes, thereby making it difficult for them to be traced.
Professor Abubakar, however, disclosed that the arrested patient had been taken to one of the three isolation centres in Kano, while the remaining fleeing patients were still being trailed.
His words, “Two of the three patients are still at large, but they are being trailed by the DSS personnel and as soon as they get them, they will be arrested.”
According to him, the State Taskforce committee on COVID-19 was working with security agencies with a view to tracing the fleeing patients and taking them to the designated isolation centre.
He, however, however expressed serious concern over the attitude of the fleeing patients which he noted could endanger the lives of others in view of the deadly nature of the disease and how quickly it spreads. (Nigerian Tribune)
