The Enugu Police Command came out to announce its launched an intensive manhunt against the assailants of three police officers in Enugu State on Wednesday night.
Enugu Police Command spokesman ASP Daniel Ndukwe in a statement said the armed men, who operated in a Lexus Jeep, opened fire on a moving patrol vehicle shooting the officers critically.
The men, who were said to have died at the hospital were on patrol duty within New Haven when the incident happened.
ASP Ndukwe also called on residents to remain calm as the Command will do all it can to apprehend the culprits.
Wednesday’s incident is the latest in attacks on security personnel, especially police officers, in the southeast region.
