Gunmen kidnapped vigilante chief on way back from church

The Vigilante Chairman of Ukwulu Community, in Dunukofia Local Government Area, Mr. Kachy Ilodigwe, has been kidnapped.

Information  has it that Mr. Ilodigwe was returning from church on Sunday when the armed men double-crossed him with their car and whisked him away.

A source who confirmed the incident said: “They pointed a gun at him, shot into the air and put him into their car.”

It is not yet clear why Mr. Ilodigwe was kidnapped.

Ukwulu community has been one of the volatile areas in the state for some time now. Last month, a citizen of the community was clubbed to death in a farm land in what appeared to be a land related issue.

When the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, said he hadn’t any information about the incident yet.
