South-East, South-South Christian leaders meet to discuss bomb threats on churches

Apostle Emmanuel Agomuo, the chairman, Abia State branch of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), has said that church lead¬ers and Christian organizations in the Southeast and South-south geopolitical zones will meet today in Umuahia to deliberate on the alleged plan by terrorists to bomb some churches in the zones.

Apostle Agomou told newsmen in Umuahia that though the infor¬mation was made public by the In¬digenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), the content cannot be dismissed with a wave of hand considering the havoc terrorists, particularly Fulani Herdsmen, have wrecked in the country over the years.

He explained that Abia State branch of CAN was aware of the information before now, pointing out the meeting will take a decisive position on what to tell churches, government and other relevant stakeholders after looking critically on the report.

It will be recalled that the Indig¬enous Peoples of Biafra, through it spokesman, Emma Powerful had alleged in a statement made avail¬able to newsmen in Umuahia that some “Fulani terrorists” were plan¬ning to carry out some bombing ex¬peditions in the south-east before the end of March 2020, saying that 14,000 churches are being targeted.

According to the group, “Intel¬ligence gathering by IPOB has re¬vealed that about 14,000 churches have already been earmarked for bombing by the terrorists who have been deployed to the zone. Most of the terrorists are already living among the people in the various communities and cities in South East where some of them operate now as tricycle (KEKE) riders, com¬mercial motorcycle operators and shoemakers.

“They wander around our vil¬lages and streets as innocent peo¬ple but they have wicked intents and are only waiting for order to unleash mayhem. A few days ago some of these bloodsuckers were observed in Umuahia identifying some churches to bomb on the set date. A further intelligence report by IPOB intelligence crack team re¬vealed that the terrorists have con¬cluded plans to blow up the marked churches simultaneously on the set date once they receive the final or¬der from their sponsors. This, they intend to carry out before March 30.

“There is already so much evi¬dence confirming this wicked plot. Just last week a soldier in mufti was seen at Orie Ugba Umuahia narrating how he narrowly escaped execution for refusing to ally with a secret plot to unleash mayhem on Biafrans. A similar event was also reported at Okigwe last month,” Emma Powerful further alleged. (Daily Independent)
