The Police in Katsina have arrested a notorious motorcycle thief and impersonator of the Nigeria Correctional Service and recovered five stolen motorcycles.
Addressing newsmen at the state command headquarters in Katsina on Friday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Gambo Isah said on 17/08/2021 at about 1330hrs, based on a tip off, the Command succeeded in arresting the suspect, Shamsu Sani, ‘M’, aged 32yrs of Yammawa Quarters, Katsina, an ex-convict, a notorious thief, who specializes in house breaking and theft of motorcycles.
According to him, nemesis caught up with the suspect when he was arrested wearing the Nigerian Correctional Service Uniform and impersonating the agency, with a suspected stolen motorcycle, Day-Long, Red in colour, with Reg. No. KTN 266 UX at Kankia LGA belonging to one Lawal Musa, ‘M’, of Bakin Kasuwa Quarter, Katsina.
He said in the course of the investigation, two suspected receivers were also arrested and five motorcycles suspected to be stolen were recovered in their possession. The investigation is ongoing.
Similarly, the command has bursted another group of motorcycle thieves and recovered five stolen motorcycles.
On 17/08/2021, based on a tip-off, the command succeeded in accosting Abdulmalik Haruna, ‘m’ of Sabon Titi Kwado, Habibu Kabir, ‘m’, of Sabuwar Unguwa, Lawal Magaji aka KC ‘m’, of Filin Polo and Hassan Usman, ‘m’, of Layin Kamfala, Fagge LGA, Kano, along the Jibia road in possession of two motorcycles Cargo and Boxer suspected to be stolen.
Isah said in the course of the investigation, the suspects confessed to have stolen the motorcycles at Alaba Quarters, Katsina.
“Investigation also led to the arrest of Shamsu Sani, ‘m’, Masanawa Quarters, and Bishir Ladan in possession of three additional motorcycles two Houjoe and one Jinchen Robber suspected to be stolen,” the PPRO maintained.
In a related development, the command has succeeded in arresting an informant cum errand boy to bandits
He said on 12/08/2021 at about 1600hrs, one Abdullahi Sani, ‘M’, aged 40yrs, of Ruwan Godiya village, Faskari LGA of Katsina state, was overheard discoursing with a notorious bandit leader, Ado Buji on phone.
In the course of investigation, the Police image maker said the suspect has confessed to the crime, saying that, sometimes ago he was given the sum of eight hundred thousand naira to buy essential needs for the bandit and his camp.
Suspect also stated that one Mallam Mustapha Isah, ‘M’, aged 35yrs of Ruwan Godiya village, Faskari LGA was the one who introduced him to the bandit leader, Ado Buji. He was later traced and arrested.
He also confessed to running errands for the bandits and collected the sum of N200, 000 from the said bandits’ leader, adding that, investigations are ongoing.
In another development, the command has arrested a habitual, serial rapist and ex-convict, one Aminu Isiyaku age 51 years old of Dadi primary school in Daura.
According to the police spokesman, the habitual rapist and ex-convict, on the same date at about 1000hrs, lured the unsuspecting girls aged 13yrs and 15yrs, students of a Primary School, into his compound located at the same address and had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minors on different occasions.
In the course of the investigation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offence and stated that he had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minors on three different occasions. Suspect is a habitual rapist and an ex-convict. Investigation is ongoing.
Similarly, another suspected violent rapist, Habibu Haladu aged 30 years old of Gidan Kadai village in Kankara LGA of Katsina state has been nabbed by the police.
On 09/08/2021 at about 16:30hrs, the Command succeeded in arresting the suspect who violently pursued his victim, a little girl, aged 12yrs of Gidan Dankarku, Kankara LGA while she was rearing domestic animals at Kwari bush behind their village.
The suspect forcefully pushed her down and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her. In the course of the investigation, he confessed to the commission of the offence and the investigation is ongoing, SP Gambo Isah concluded.
