The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Senator Abdulaziz Yari, says President Bola Tinubu cannot be exclusively accountable for the widespread insecurity.
Speaking yesterday during a visit to Kebbi where he met with Governor Nasir Idris, traditional rulers and other party leaders in Birnin Kebbi, Yari said ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, a former General, did his best but could not combat insecurity fully, NAN reported.
He praised the governor and other APC leaders for their efforts at mobilising support for the party, asserting that their united dedication would guarantee victory for Tinubu and other APC candidates in 2027.
“We are spearheading the campaign for the re-election of the President and other candidates of our party. We thank you for uniting the emirs under one umbrella in the palace of the Emir of Gwandu.
“We appreciate what you are doing as governors and your contribution toward ensuring victory for our party in 2027,” he stated. Access Services
Yari said the campaign council would cooperate with all persons and groups committed to the re-election of Tinubu, regardless of their positions, to fulfil the party’s goals.
He said he was confident of the chances of the APC in Kebbi, adding that he saw the support during his visit to the state.
On insecurity, Yari said the country was faced with issues but said attempts were being made to resolve the challenges by the Tinubu administration.
He said during his government, former President Muhammadu Buhari, a retired Army General, also tried to confront insecurity but the matter was not entirely tackled.
“If a retired general did his best and could not completely solve insecurity, what do you expect of President Tinubu who is not a general? But the president has done his best to address the security concerns the country is facing,” he said.
Yari also advised Nigerians to focus on their connection with God, adding that the issue of insecurity also required a communal effort aside from the efforts of government.
On the economy, he said the hardship being experienced by Nigerians was not particular to the country, adding that there was a fall in inflation and reduction in fertiliser costs.
The federal government was taking steps to lessen the pressure on residents, such as financial handouts to needy households, he said.
He said the steps were designed to boost the economy and enhance the living standards of Nigerians.
Yari conceded each country has its own problems to deal with, mentioning the U.S. and Saudi Arabia as countries currently struggling with diverse domestic issues.
He appealed to Nigerians to recognise the work of the Tinubu administration and rally behind its development program. Maps Buy
In his response, Governor Idris welcomed the visit of the PCC delegation as a wonderful development, adding that he was happy for the meeting of APC leaders and traditional rulers to receive the team.
The emirs agreed to meet in the palace to show unity and receive the delegation, he added.
Idris said Kebbi had seen the benefits of federal government projects under the Tinubu administration, saying the development measures had helped to increase the support of the state for the President.
We have no reason not to back the President. We have notable leaders like Atiku Bagudu, Adamu Aliero and Amb. Saidu Dakingari.
“You have seen the Kebbi people and their overwhelming support. “We are for the APC and we are for President Tinubu,” Idris remarked.
The governor is optimistic that the state would continue to support the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
