Two firms have written the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the alleged involvement of the son of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Jordan Nyesom-Wike, in a disputed $2.1m land deal.
Vanguard reports that the petitioners, Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil & Gas Nigeria Limited, through their lawyers, have filed charges of fraud, acquiring under false pretences, criminal misappropriation and conversion.
“The anti-graft agency has acknowledged receipt of the petition but has not acted on it,” the claimants’ counsel, Mr. Ibrahim Waru, told journalists at the Federal High Court in Abuja today.
Waru said the civil aspect of the dispute is already before the High Court of the FCT and the petition was filed to enable the EFCC examine the alleged criminal elements.
He said, “My clients attached to the petition a proof of evidence that contained correspondences and WhatsApp exchanges to prove that the money was handed over to Wike’s son at a house in Gwarinpa on September 26, 2025, in the presence of two witnesses.
Vanguard also sighted a copy of the petition which reads: “We have our client’s firm instructions to submit this petition against Jordan Nyesom-Wike for the alleged offences of fraud, obtaining by false pretence, criminal misappropriation and conversion to the tune of USD2,100,000 (Two Million, One Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) perpetrated against our client.
Our client met Mr Jordan Nyesom-Wike in London and thereafter established a relationship.
“Jordan met with our client on his return to Nigeria three months ago. He undertook to enable the acquisition of land within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on the basis of his previous statements that he habitually facilitated such acquisition and that he had the knowledge and consent of his father, as the Honourable Minister of the FCT.
Jordan, in the presence of our client, called his father and allegedly advised him about the proposed deal to further these representations.
“Jordan then assured our client that he could get 30 hectares of land in Katampe and 30 hectares in Guzape.
“Jordan demanded and received the sum of USD2, 000,000 (Two Million United States Dollars) as the fee he will deliver to his father, the Honourable Minister to facilitate land allocation.
“Furthermore, our client paid to Jordan USD100,000 (One Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) as a personal facilitation fee.
” These sums were paid in cash, at the instance of Jordan Nyesom-Wike, in the presence of the following witnesses; Adamu Sani and Aliyu Sarki. Jordan was accompanied by one Onor Sandy, whom he introduced as a buddy and business associate.
Jordan pledged to provide the land assignments within a month. He never lived up to the deal, went into hiding after he received the payments.
“The UK telephone number he provided is not in service and all efforts by our client, including through persons known to the Honourable Minister, to reach him have been futile.
“In light of the foregoing, our client has reasonable cause to believe that Jordan Nyesom-Wike has committed various offences including but not limited to: Obtaining by False Pretence contrary to Section 1(1) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Related Offences Act; Fraud; Criminal Misappropriation; and Criminal Conversion of the sum of USD2,100,000 entrusted to him.”
“Our client therefore requests the Commission to: 1. Immediately investigate the actions of Jordan Nyesom-Wike; 2. Arrest and interrogate Jordan Nyesom-Wike; 3. Commence prosecution where the investigation establishes criminality.
“Our client is prepared to provide all required assistance, including the witnesses and any additional information that might assist the Commission.
“We believe in the professionalism and diligence of the EFCC and we humbly request that they act swiftly on this matter. “Please find attached Acknowledgement of Payment signed by Jordan Wike.”
Meanwhile, Justice Silvanus Oriji of the FCT High Court has adjourned a civil matter dated CV/008/2026 brought by the claimants against Jordan, who has since disputed the charge to 1 December for continuation.
The defendant who contended that he was not in the country on the date the litigants said they provided him money to enable the allocation of land, produced his foreign passport before the court in support of his stance.
He told the court that he flew out of the nation using his American passport within the period the claimants alleged they met him in Abuja.
While the case was delayed for continuation of hearing, the claimants have petitioned the Chief Judge of the court to remove Justice Oriji from the matter on ground of his purported link with the family of the FCT minister.
