Twenty-six years after Basil O. Ekoh vanished in San Pedro, Côte d’Ivoire, his family is once again pleading for information that could assist determine what became of him.
Ekoh, who hails from Ihe in Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State, was 35 years old when he went missing on March 25, 2000, according to Daily Independent.
The family said it has not been able to find accurate information regarding his location or what may have happened to him after many years of looking.
In a fresh ‘missing person’ appeal, the family urged anyone who may have known Ekoh, seen him, worked alongside him, or had any information relating to him, to come forward.
The family stated even the tiniest piece of information might provide a critical clue and help bring answers to a search that has gone on for more than two decades.
The alert said Ekoh was last seen in San Pedro, a large port city in southeastern Côte d’Ivoire.
Because of its economic and port activity, San Pedro has always attracted individuals from different sections of Côte d’Ivoire and other nations.
The family is so appealing specifically to anybody in San Pedro and other parts of Côte d’Ivoire who might have known Ekoh, seen him or worked with him around the time of his disappearance.
The plea was also addressed to Nigerians and members of the Nigerian community resident in Côte d’Ivoire, as well as those in Nigeria who may have been in contact with him before his abduction or may later have received information about him. GeographicReference
The missing man was identified as Basil O. Ekoh, a 35-year-old Nigerian, from Ihe, Awgu LGA, Enugu State, when he disappeared.
The family stated they still have no verifiable information about his whereabouts 26 years after he was last known to be in San Pedro.
It urged to anyone who may have information, however small, to come forward, stressing that such information could help the family discover what happened to Ekoh.
The family also called on members of the public to distribute the appeal far and wide, particularly among people in San Pedro and other parts of Côte d’Ivoire, Nigeria and the Nigerian community in the nation.
Anyone with information regarding Ekoh or his location was encouraged to contact his family or the person who posted the appeal.
The family’s statement also served as a heartbreaking reminder that the hunt hasn’t stopped with time.
“Your family, Basil, have not forgotten you. “We will keep looking and praying that you come back safe,” it said.
As the years go by, the family is still holding out hope that someone who knows Ekoh, saw him after his abduction or has knowledge about his movements may come forward.
Even one genuine clue could help shed light on the fate and whereabouts of a guy whose family says it has never ceased searching for him, for relatives who have spent more than two decades without dependable answers.
