A 36-year-old lady, Anulika Onyeanusia, has been detained in Onitsha, Anambra State, for an alleged case of child pornography.
A police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed this Wednesday, said the culprit was apprehended following open source intelligence on a trending video.
The operation resulted in the rescue of four youngsters ages 2, 3, 6 and 9 years old and the collection of sex toys and other incriminating things important to the current inquiry, he said, reported The Nation.
The suspect was in police custody and the husband was being questioned to establish whether he had any connection with the suspected offence, he said.
“The Anambra State Police Command acting on open source intelligence received on a disturbing trending video of a lady allegedly using sex toys on a minor, in the evening of the 10th of September 2026, arrested one Anulika Onyeanusia, a 36 years old woman in connection with an alleged case of child pornography in Onitsha, Anambra State.
The operation also led to the rescue of four children aged 2, 3, 6 and 9 years respectively, the recovery of sex toys and other things pertinent to the continuing inquiry.
“The person of interest is in police custody and the Command is intensifying its investigation into the circumstances of the purported offence and the possible involvement of other persons.
The husband of the suspect is also being questioned to know if he has any link with the suspected incident.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, who was quite troubled by the alleged incident, said that it was not only inappropriate but also an exploitation and abuse of youngsters who were helpless and could not defend themselves.
He has thus ordered a comprehensive and competent inquiry to be carried out, while guaranteeing that the children rescued are given proper care and protection.
“The Command notes that apart from the investigation and prosecution, the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the rescued children is its priority.
“The Command will collaborate with the appropriate child protection and relevant support agencies to ensure that the victims receive the necessary care, protection, counselling and other support required for their recovery.
“Their identities and privacy will be protected throughout the process, and they will be treated with compassion and sensitivity.
The Command also commends the vigilante operations in the region and bloggers and citizens who supplied information that supported the investigation and led to the arrest of the culprit.
