According to a story by The People, a cosmetic facility in Bangkok, Thailand has told investigators that Nigerian content producer Igho “Tiny” Ubiribo sought to have a penis enlargement treatment done in one session, despite a doctor’s suggestion that it should be done in two sessions.
Ubiribo, a Nigerian influencer who lived in London, died on March 6, a day after receiving hyaluronic acid penis filler injections at the facility, papers from the Westminster Coroner’s Court inquest acquired earlier by PEOPLE show. His cause of death was related to the hyaluronic acid injection and a pulmonary embolism, a post-mortem examination and toxicology analysis heard at an inquest on August 21.
On September 7, Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health said it had opened an investigation into the clinic where Ubiribo was injected. The ministry announced that Minister Pattana Phromphat had ordered the Department of Health Service Support (DHSS) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to look into the details of the case.
Initial investigations indicated a private hospital in Bangkok phoned an emergency medical center to send an ambulance for an unconscious patient, the ministry said, quoting Phromphat who informed local media.
Inquest records revealed Ubiribo started to have chest problems and collapsed on March 5, several hours after the cosmetic treatment. He was transferred to a local hospital for a CT scan but passed out before the test could be administered. He was said to have undergone CPR for 101 minutes before being declared dead at 1:05 a.m. on March 6.
The Ministry of Public Health said authorities checked the clinic on Sept. 7 for information about whether it was meeting medical requirements after the event. DHSS Director-General Phuwadet Surakot claimed the clinic was not publicly named.
But clinic management informed investigators Ubiribo had been a patient since 2024 and had five injections of penile augmentation, according to a report. The clinic said a doctor had recommended to Ubiribo that the surgery on March 5 be split into two sessions.
Surakot said Ubiribo requested that the injection be done in one go. The facility also said that Ubiribo completed a treatment consent form before each appointment, was given aftercare instructions after the operations and that he never reported any concerns related to his previous treatments.
The investigation is anticipated to establish whether or not the clinic followed medical and professional standards while carrying out the treatment. Authorities would gather evidence before handing over the case to the Medical Council for assessment, the Ministry of Public Health stated.
In a statement, the ministry said: “We will gather all the facts and evidence and take action in accordance with our authority and refer the case to the Medical Council for a decision on professional practice standards, to ensure fairness to all parties.”
Ubiribo had more than 180,000 followers on Instagram, where he routinely posted about his lifestyle with his wife, Dani Allen.
