Lawal Hamisu, a father of eleven, asked the Shari’a court II in Magajin Gari, Kaduna, today to force his daughter, Fatima Lawal, to find a partner and be married.
According to NAN, the complainant, speaking through his attorney, H.B. Debo, stated that his daughter was 27 years old, had earned her Higher National Diploma (HND), and had entertained several admirers but had not attracted a serious suitor.
He declared, “Since her mother has poisoned their minds against me, she should find a suitor, present him in court, and the court should marry her off.”
The defendant stated that she has no serious suitors and that none of her admirers have made marriage proposals.
Malam Yakubu Abdullahi, the judge, stated that the case was delicate because it involved a parent and his child and that he would speak with each party individually to better understand them and provide additional guidance.
He postponed making a decision until August 3.
