Vice President Kashim Shettima has extended his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu after the All Progressives Congress (APC) officially confirmed him as the President’s running mate for the 2027 presidential election, putting an end to months of speculation about the party’s ticket.
Shortly after the announcement, Shettima visited President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, and the two leaders had a brief chat.
Presidential videographer Sunday Moses shared footage of the Vice President warmly welcoming the President before the two men walked inside the President’s office.
Shettima thanked Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him and for the opportunity to continue to serve as Vice President and the APC’s vice-presidential candidate in the 2019 general election at the meeting.
The confirmation ends protracted ambiguity over whether President Tinubu will keep Shettima on the ruling party’s ticket, despite much political conjecture in the recent months.
President Tinubu has always rebuffed the speculation and has publicly reaffirmed his faith in Shettima on multiple occasions at the APC National Summit in 2025.
As the APC sets the machinery in motion for the next general election, the party has formally adopted the Tinubu-Shettima ticket for the 2027 presidential election.
