The UK’s terrorism threat level was upgraded yesterday to “severe”, the second highest in the five-tier system, after an antisemitic terror assault the day before in London, the interior ministry said.
It said: “Today the Joint Terrorism Analysis Centre (JTAC) raised the UK National Threat Level from substantial, meaning an attack is likely, to severe, meaning an attack is highly likely in the next six months.”
JTAC, based within Britain’s security agencies, had said the threat level has been substantial since February 2022, but was upped after Wednesday’s event in which two Jewish men were attacked.
