Troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Malumfashi, in conjunction with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) agents, have detained seven alleged drug peddlers during a joint search in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation was carried out at about 5:00 p.m. on April 27 at Kwasu Maguzawa village following intelligence on alleged drug trafficking activities in the area, Daily Independent quoted security sources.
Sources said the suspects were arrested during the raid and different types of narcotics were found from them.
The recovered materials, according to the sources, comprised 402.5 grams of suspected cannabis sativa, 1.8 grams of tramadol, 1.4 grams of pregabalin and 6.2 grams of Exol-5 tablets.
They said the suspects and exhibits confiscated have been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and prosecution.
The operation is part of continuous attempts to crack down on drug usage and its connection to criminal activity in the region, the sources said.
