The Oyo State Police Command said today that they were working together to make sure that a woman who was kidnapped in front of her house in the Bolumole area of Challenge in Ibadan would be secure when she got back.
DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the group’s spokesperson, said that the incident happened at 6 p.m. on Wednesday night when armed men wearing masks stopped Mrs. Adetutu Aderibigbe at the door to her residence and took her away to an unknown place.
“The leadership knows that there is a report going around in the media about the supposed kidnapping of Mrs. Adetutu Aderibigbe. Ayanlade added, “A preliminary investigation shows that the incident happened on April 8, 2026, at around 1800 hours in the Bolumole Area, off Ring Road, Ibadan.”
He said that, contrary to reports that said the victim was kidnapped on the road and that her car’s windshield was broken, the evidence showed that the attackers had followed the victim home.
“Four armed men wearing masks stopped her at the gate when she got there and tried to get into her house. They then took her away in an unregistered black Lexus,” he said.
The PPRO also said that a family member who was there was not hurt.
“After a report was lodged at the station soon after the event, the police quickly got to work. The control room was told about the situation right away, and it was sent up to the right tactical units. He said that detectives were quickly sent to the area to assess the situation.
The police said that the crime scene had been cleaned up using forensic tools and that important evidence that had been found was helping with the investigation.
The Command claimed that they had also stepped up their efforts to find the people who did it and make sure the victim was rescued safely.
It told the public that all required resources had been used to free the victim and catch the people who did this terrible thing.
The Command told people that everything is being done to save the woman and bring her back to her family. They also asked the public to stay calm and help law enforcement by giving them genuine information that could help with the investigation.
