Nigeria did not win any awards in the 2026 Grammy Awards, even though it was nominated in many important categories.
According to Guardian Life, Burna Boy, Davido, Omah Lay, Ayra Starr, and Wizkid were all nominated but did not win an award at the gala.
Even though Nigeria did well in both African and global music categories, it didn’t win a Grammy this year.
Tyla, a South African singer, received the Best African Music Performance award with her song Push 2 Start.
She won over other nominees like Burna Boy’s “Love,” Davido and Omah Lay’s “With You,” and Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s “Gimme Dat.”
Tyla has now won this category twice since it was first given out in 2024, when she won with Water.
The Best Global Music Album award went to Brazilian stars Caetano Veloso and Maria Bethânia for their album Caetano e Bethânia Ao Vivo. Burna Boy’s No Sign of Weakness did not win.
