Muhammadu Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, has been given special permission to join the Bachelor of Laws (LLB) Common Law and Sharia program at Northwest University, Kano.
The Guardian says that the approval was sent in an official letter dated January 12, 2026, and signed by Jafaru Muhammad, the Head of the Directorate of Examinations, Admissions, and Records of the university, for the Registrar.
Bashir Ahmad, a former presidential assistant, released a letter on his X handle yesterday saying that the Emir applied for special admission and was accepted after meeting the university’s conditions for special consideration.
The letter said that starting with the 2024–2025 school year, he will be a Level 200 student in the Faculty of Law.
