Burna Boy, Rema, and Wizkid are the top Afrobeats artists of 2025, according to Spotify.
According to Channels TV, the site disclosed the list in a post yesterday. Asake and Ayra Starr joined the top five.
Spotify said in a statement that Afrobeats is becoming more popular around the world, with fans streaming artists like Rema, Wizkid, and Burna Boy from Nigeria to Brazil.
The site advised people to listen to some of the best songs, artists, and countries that are helping the genre flourish and find new fans around the world.
Ayra Starr’s “Santa” featuring Rauw Alejandro and Rvssian, Moliy’s “Shake It To The Max (FLY) – Remix” with Shenseea, Silent Addy, and Skillibeng, and Rema’s worldwide hit “Calm Down” with Selena Gomez are some of the most streamed Afrobeats songs of the year.
Along with Libianca’s viral single “People,” Burna Boy’s song “We Pray” with Coldplay, Elyanna, Little Simz, and Tini was also included.
In 2025, Spotify also said that the US, Brazil, France, the UK, Germany, and Nigeria are the top nations for finding and streaming Afrobeats.
Davido, a regular supporter of the sound and one of its biggest global ambassadors, is not on the top list, which is strange.
Tyla, the South African artist who won Best Afrobeats two years in a row but felt more connected to Amapiano, is also missing.
Tems, who won Best African Music at the 2025 Grammy Awards, is also not on the list.
Afrobeats comes from Afrobeat, which was first made famous by the great Fela Kuti. Since then, it has grown into its own global style.
D’banj, Timaya, Wizkid, Davido, and Tiwa Savage were some of the first stars to make its sound known around the world.
Burna Boy, Rema, Asake, Ayra Starr, and Tems have been at the forefront of the “Afrobeats to the World” movement in recent years, breaking down barriers and topping charts around the world.
Some commentators still wonder if Afrobeats can compete with pop, rap, or Latin music in terms of sales, even if it is growing quickly.
Some people claim that the lack of unity among the top Nigerian artists is a problem that keeps coming up. They say that this slows down the genre’s advancement as a whole.
But there is no denying that it has a worldwide appeal, and many Nigerian artists have successfully created big, personal fan following around the world.
