NNPP unveils new logo, new flag, new constitution

Chief Reporter July 12, 2024
NNPP

The New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP has unveiled its new logo, new constitution and a new flag as part of moves to reposition it for better electoral delivery, just as it said that it will justify its focus in providing education for all across the country.

Speaking yesterday in Abuja while unveiling them, the National leader of the party, and former Kano State governor, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso whom explained the colour separation surrounding it, said that the new logo contains an academic cap sitting on a book and it has replaced the former logo of the opposition party which had basket of agricultural fruits embedded in a symbol of the Nigerian map.

According to Kwankwaso, the white background on which the logo stood “symbolizes peace for which the party was known. NNPP stands for peace, and that is why despite all provocation in Kano we have remained peaceful, and we urge our supporters to continue to be peaceful.”

Senator Kwankwaso expressed hope that the new logo would be easily identified by party supporters across the country, even as he regretted that the difficulties encountered by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC in printing NNPP logo in the 2023 ballot papers would be a thing of the past.

Earlier in his remarks, the National Chairman of the party, Ajuji Ahmed who disclosed that the old logo would feature in the September off-season election in Edo and Ondo States, and the re-run election in Kano State within the year, said, “However, beginning with the November 16, 2024 off-season Governorship election in Ondo State, this new logo will be on the ballot papers. Voters in the states mentioned above, i.e. Edo, Kano, and Ondo States should take note.”

He said, “the party’s experience in the last general elections when the old logo with its many colours posed a great challenge in the production of the ballot papers gave us a clear indication that, for the party, going forward, there was an urgent need to do something about the logo especially. In fact in some cases, our voters were confused by the way the old logo came out in the ballot papers across the country.

“As a party focused on going forward, we did not go to the Tribunals to challenge anyone on account of the way the logo came out on the ballot papers throughout the country. Instead we went on a mission of dialogue and wide consultations within and outside the party, which took us to where we are today.”

The NNPP National Chairman who called on all states electoral commissions to feature the party’s new logo in ballot papers for local government elections in upcoming poll, said that the logo has since been ratified by the National Executive Committee of the party, and its organs at the national convention which was held in April.

On his part, the Secretary, NNPP Board of Trustees (BoT), Buba Galadima who noted that the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) has done a good campaign for the party with regard to the way and manner it has managed the economy of the country, urged those wishing to join the opposition party to brace up for the challenges ahead, adding that “nothing good comes easy. So, whoever hopes to belong to this party must have at the back of his mind that it is not an easy journey.

Galadima said, “It is a struggle for emancipation that must be fought with all the strength, and all the veracity of the human person such that what we find ourselves in today would be washed away by the tsunami come 2027.”

Galadima who explained that the white colour in the new logo represents peace, however underscored the importance of peace to the development of the country.

He said that the he party must therefore maintain peace if it “struggles and bring peace” to the nation, adding that whilst Sen. Kwankwaso as Minister of Defence ensure that the country was peaceful, the education for all philosophy of the current logo I’d meant to ensure that the sons of the ordinary masses went to the best school anywhere in the world.

“That way they can stand shoulder to shoulder with the children of our rulers.”

In his remarks, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Ladipo Johnson who noted that the NNPP is the roadmap to a new country driven by education and knowledge, said that the new logo replaces the old agricultural harvest embedded in the Nigerian map.

Ladipo said, “education is the bedrock of all. It encompasses strength, development, growth and all that is needed for national development. And when we talk about education, we’re not just talking of books, but information and all other forms of education.”
