In Enugu, gunmen kidnap a corpse and family members and demand a N50 million ransom.
The body of the late Ugwuanyi Israel has been taken by suspected kidnappers from Ameze Owerre in the Umabor community in the Nsukka Local Government Area of Enugu State.
When the kidnapping happened, the deceased’s body was being transported from Lagos to Nsukka for funeral preparations, according to The Nation.
The incident took place in the Umuoka community in the Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, along 9th Mile Road.
Along with taking Ugwuanyi’s body, the gunmen also kidnapped all of his family members.
The kidnappers ambushed the family members as they were returning home with Ugwuanyi’s body.
A family source claims: “His corpse was being transported from Lagos yesterday (Sunday) when the kidnappers and those inside the vehicle stopped the vehicle.” alongside the driver were all kidnapped at Umuoka Udi LGA of Enugu State.”
