An unlawful facility engaged in the production of weaponry has been effectively discovered and deconstructed by Operation SAFE HAVEN (OPSH) troops in Vom, Jos South Local Government Area, Plateau State.

Yesterday, a statement regarding this was published on the Facebook page of the Nigerian Army.

Six AK-47 rifles, four submachine guns, eleven AK rifle carcasses, a pistol, and seven AK-47 bridge blocks were among the recovered objects.

Additional components consist of 210 recoil springs for AK-47 rifles, seven rifle butts, eight rifle muzzles, nine piston assemblies, and five cartridge housings.A hand filling machine and a drilling machine set were also recovered.

The Army reports that, in addition to the weapons and apparatus used in their fabrication, two individuals who were directly involved in the proliferation and marketing of the weapons were apprehended: Yusuf Pam, 43, and Michael Dung, 33.

The Army asserts that the successful operation serves as additional evidence of OPSH’s resolute determination to eliminate unlawful firearms from the Joint Operations Area and deconstruct criminal networks engaged in the production and distribution of illegal weapons. This is consistent with the directive issued to troops by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. TA Lagbaja, during the initiation of Operations HAKORIN DAMISA IV.

Furthermore, it was stated that the retrieval of a substantial quantity of firearms and associated equipment will undeniably impede the operations of criminal factions and enhance the security and stability of Plateau State and the entire nation. This continues to be the chief defensive staff’s principal objective, General CG Musa.

While praising the tenacity of the soldiers, the GOC and Commander OPSH, Major General AE Abubakar, thanked the community for their ongoing cooperation and support, particularly in supplying crucial intelligence that has aided the fight against criminal activities.

It is imperative that the public and military work together to ensure the success of operations designed to preserve peace and security in Plateau State and, by extension, Nigeria, he stated.
