The United States warns its citizens in Nigeria of a terrorist threat to prominent hotels.

Concerns have been raised by the United States regarding potential dangers to upscale hotels located in the “larger cities” of Nigeria.

Channels TV reports that the United States issued this alert in an emergency information for American citizens dated November 3, adding that Nigerian security agencies are working to counter the threat.

Additionally, it recommended that citizens of the United States maintain a low profile, exercise caution when entering high-end hotels, and consult the travel advisory for Nigeria prior to their hotel check-in.

The advisory stated, “The U.S. Government is cognizant of reliable information indicating that major hotels in Nigeria’s major cities face an increased risk.”

“With great diligence, the Nigerian security services are attempting to counter the threat.” It is recommended that United States citizens take into account the following information prior to making travel arrangements or visiting prominent hotels in Nigeria, as stated by the U.S. Department of State.

In case any United States citizen needed assistance, the advisory also furnished the addresses and phone numbers of the United States embassy in Abuja and the consulate in Lagos.

This occurs one month after the United States issued a global advisory urging all of its citizens to exercise caution while travelling to different parts of the globe.
