Tinubu fires the heads of FRCN, NBC, and VON and appoints a new NAN MD
The Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation has eight new Chief Executive Officers that President Bola Tinubu has authorised for immediate implementation.
According to The PUNCH, these organisations are the Nigerian Press Council, the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, the Voice of Nigeria, the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, the Nigerian Television Authority, the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, and the Nigerian Television Authority.
The president and Information Minister Mohammed Idris met behind closed doors at the State House in Abuja 24 hours prior to the appointments being announced.
The announcement, headed “President Tinubu appoints new leadership across the information and national orientation sectors,” was signed by Special Adviser on Media and Publicity Ajuri Ngelale on Thursday.
Mr. Lanre Issa-Onilu was appointed Director-General of the NOA, while Mr. Salihu Dembos continued in his role as Director-General of the NTA, and Dr. Muhammed Bulama succeeded Dr. Mansir Liman as Director-General of the FRCN.
Mr. Jibrin Ndace succeeds Osita Okechukwu as DG of the VON, while Mr. Charles Ebuebu takes over as Director-General of the NBC from Balarabe Illelah.
In addition to Dr. Ali Ali as DG NAN and Mr. Dili Ezughah as Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Press Council, President Buhari named Dr. Lekan Fadolapo as Director-General of ARCON.
The president has charged the newly appointed heads of these sectors with “innovating and creating new opportunities for Nigerians to leverage upon through the effective reform of these key institutions of government which function” to bring Nigerians together, alter people’s worldviews, and promote the country internationally.
