Bandits abduct 2 varsity students in Gusau again
Two more students from the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State were kidnapped by armed bandits yesterday evening.
An eyewitness said that a male and female student were taken from their off-campus hostel in the Sabon Garin Damba neighbourhood of Gusau, the state capital, at around 9 p.m. yesterday.
Channels TV quotes residents saying that shortly after 8 o’clock in the evening, bandits invaded the neighbourhood and began firing randomly in an attempt to frighten people.
Despite the efforts of security guards, who fired multiple shots in an attempt to drive off the intruders, two students were kidnapped.
A second local, who also requested anonymity for safety reasons, told our correspondent that police and soldiers have joined the hunt for the robbers.
Attempts to reach ASP Yazid Abubakar, the state police command’s official spokesman, were fruitless; he did not answer his phone.
