The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has responded to the allegations made on social media regarding the arrest and detention of ate artiste Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as MohBad, made by the Lagos state police command.

On Friday, October 6, 2023, the NDLEA held a press conference to address the media’s questions about the claim. According to The Guardian, the agency claimed it felt compelled to do so because it had been responding to the police’s inquiry into the matter since Thursday, September 28, 2023.

In a communique released by Director, Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA stated, “Our formal response dated Thursday, September 28, 2023 was sent by flight to Lagos, delivered, and received by the police on the same day.” For the convenience of the inquiring public, we have reprinted our response’s executive summary below:

“We also heard the unproven claim on social media that on February 24, 2022, NDLEA arrested and detained Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, aka MohBad, and gave him something to drink. We deny this accusation on behalf of MohBad and the NDLEA and declare that he was never arrested on the specified date or at any time thereafter. Given the foregoing, there is no need to give him anything to drink.
