Canadian Rapper Drake taking a break from music over health issue
Drake, a Canadian rapper, announced his indefinite leave from the music industry yesterday, just hours after releasing his most recent album.
On his SiriusXM radio show Table For One, he said, “I probably won’t make music for a little while, I’m gonna be honest.” He continued, “I need to focus on my health first and foremost… I have to straighten up.
He said, “For years, I’ve had the craziest problems with my stomach.”
The Grammy-winning musician, now 36 years old, had just put out his new album, “For All The Dogs.” This long-awaited album includes guest appearances from Bad Bunny, J. Cole, SZA, Lil Yachty, and a sample of Frank Ocean.
Adonis, his five-year-old son, drew the album cover and also appears in the music video for the album’s latest single, “8AM in Charlotte.” He also contributes a rap to the song “Daylight.”
Drake’s website and Ticketmaster report that a number of his upcoming U.S. shows have been cancelled or postponed due to his hiatus.
However, it appeared that the Friday and Saturday shows in Toronto, for which fans were already seen queuing, would go on as planned.
Drake also promised to fulfil vague obligations.
I owe a few other people favours,” he explained.
Without that, “I’m gonna lock the door in the studio for a little bit,” Drake said. I have no concept of how much is a little. Perhaps a year, or even more time.
