Court begins sitting as presidential tribunal set to deliver judgement • WATCH IT LIVE

Today, a decision will be made by the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT). The security has been increased in preparation for the verdict.

In the capital city of Abuja, the Tribunal will be held at the Court of Appeal, and Channels TV reports that people of all walks of life in Nigeria are eagerly awaiting the live broadcast of the proceedings.

 

President Bola Tinubu has been declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election, but this has been challenged by three political parties: the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Atiku Abubakar, the Labour Party (LP) of Peter Obi, and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

The judge has begun hearing arguments at 9:28 a.m.

 

At 09:21, judges have begun to file into the courthouse.

 

At 9:03 a.m., Vice President Kashim Shettima and several governors also showed up.

 

Kogi, Nasarawa, Imo, Ekiti, Yobe, and Bauchi all have APC governors.

 

Festus Keyamo is the Minister of Aviation, and Nuhu Ribudu is the President’s Chief of Staff and National Security Adviser.

 

Aisha Yesufu and Labour Party Chairman Julius Abure are also here.

 

Party leaders from the People’s Democratic Party, the All Progressives Congress, and the Labour Party have begun to arrive at the PEPT venue as of 8:47 a.m.

 

The PEPT verdict is expected at 7:27 am, so security has been increased. To prevent any potential lawlessness, security personnel have been placed at key points throughout the venue.
