The Federal Road Safety Corps apprehended a motorist who was seen driving with both a foreign licence plate and a Nigerian one.

The driver and his Volkswagen (Golf 3) were apprehended in the Idu operational area of the corps in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, after the tactical team had gathered sufficient intelligence. The front licence plate was a Kano licence plate (BBJ746AA), and the back was a foreign licence plate (CV 51UMC).

After a preliminary investigation by the Corps Intelligence Unit, the impounded Volkswagen and the driver were turned over to the Life Camp Divisional Police Command, FCT for further questioning and possible prosecution.

The Corps issued a statement today signed by its spokesperson Bisi Kazeem, warning the public and the perpetrators of this criminal act that “tactical teams of the Corps have been strategically placed to ensure that all suspects are arrested and their vehicles are impounded at sight for onward prosecution.”

Dauda Ali Biu, Corps Marshal, ordered a crackdown on all unregistered, unsafe, and improperly registered vehicles across the country.

Kazeem reported that special operations were underway while FRSC patrol teams searched for the suspects.
