I’m not a thief, but Nigeria has treated me unfairly – Orji Kalu weeps over the injustice done to him.
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, APC, Abia North, has lamented the injustice and unfairness with which he and some of his contemporaries are dealt.
Former Abia State governor spoke at the ninth Senate Valedictory session.
Having served its full four-year term.He lamented the manner in which he has been treated politically, particularly by those he helped build and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, which he supported financially.
“Before I entered politics, I could buy anything money could buy,” said Kalu. I am not a criminal. Those who placed me in prison are aware of the reason. They took over my businesses and tried to kill me, but I survived and am now serving with you in the Senate.
“I have never been in want. During my time in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where I served as governor for two terms, I provided the entire sum of money used to form the party in 1997 and 1998, and I later became a thief.
“Those to whom I provided transportation funds from my home in Victoria Island became agents. This is the meaning of Nigeria. Thank you for providing me with four years of continuous support. This nation is unjust.”
