Governor-elect of Abia: Without Peter Obi, we prevailed.

1

Alex Otti, the newly elected governor of Abia State, has stated that he won the election before Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi joined the party.

Otti stated this during an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today.

“There was no Peter Obi in 2015 when I ran under APGA,” he said. And it’s on record that I won that election. Peter Obi had not joined the Labour Party at the time we were joining. It took about a week before he called to say he had purchased the presidential nomination form and would be visiting the Labour Party.

“We were prepared to fight the same way we did in 2015.” The votes we received in Abia could have been obtained, but the margin could have been narrower. That is why it is always important to recognize Peter Obi. He visited Abia four times to campaign for us.

“I believe he did well for us.” That is why, in the first election, we took six of the eight House of Representatives seats and sent some people into permanent retirement.

“Peter Obi is an excellent addition to our campaign, but I can assure you that we have previously won an election in Abia without him.”
